Upgrade to Windows 7 Overnight and On Demand

A significant upgrade cycle in IT seems to be coming in late 2010/early 2011, and there are several trends that are coming together to form the big wave.
• The business rejection of Windows Vista and the aging of Windows XP
• An aging desktop infrastructure due to a delayed refresh from the recession
• Wave 14 – the release of Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, and other business productivity applications.
These three trends are pushing a rapid adoption of Microsoft’s Windows 7 as compared to the rate of adoption of Windows XP.  Analysts are anticipating that 30 months from the initial release, the adoption rate will be 85% for Windows 7 compared to 28% for Windows XP.

If your office is facing the rapid adoption of Windows 7, you’ll have many important issues to consider:
• Will the desktop hardware run Windows 7?
• How much will it cost to touch every machine?
• How long will it take to test and actually roll out?
• How can I secure the environment so that ongoing maintenance of the desktop is minimized?
Wouldn’t it be nice, however, to deploy Windows 7 and Office 2010 to your company overnight, without having to touch every desktop in the organization?

Deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 through desktop virtualization solves all of these issues, enables business functionality that a physical desktop can’t, and even provides a significantly less total cost of ownership.  Adopting virtualization offers the following benefits:
• Ability to deploy Win7  easily and quickly on demand
• Risk-free deployment through virtual apps and desktops
• Repurposed refresh budget as a strategic investment, allowing you to leverage existing PCs longer
• No worries about desktop data security because it’s locked down in the DC
• Flexibility to deliver the desktop to any device, anywhere, including PCs, Macs, Linux, iPhones, and Blackberries.

Desktop virtualization is the answer to the coming IT wave, and its ease of use, total functionality, and lower TCO offers you a win-win situation.
