Tegrant Corporation Selects Worknet to Speed Separation from SCA
Naperville, Illinois – October 25, 2007- Worknet Inc., a provider of consulting and managed technology services, today announced that Tegrant Corporation, the industry leader of a variety of highly engineered packaging solutions and energy efficient building products, has engaged Worknet to design, host, and manage a separate computing environment apart from their former parent company, SCA. Worknet has completed a significant portion of migrating Tegrant’s mission-critical applications and data related to their new computing environment, meeting very aggressive transition deadlines. Worknet is also providing complete management of the new computing environment, which is being hosted from Worknet’s Data Center. Worknet’s managed services free Tegrant to focus on core business operations, future acquisitions, and speed to market.
Facing a recent corporate buyout and the possibility of incurring further charge backs, Tegrant needed to make an immediate transition from its former parent company’s systems and establish its own computing environment within 90 days. Tegrant has over 30 manufacturing and testing facilities across North America and a large mobile workforce complicating a rapid transition. Engineering a network of this magnitude, migrating existing data, and minimizing the risk of business interruption was a formidable task for Tegrant’s limited IT staff. Tegrant also decided IT hosting was not its core competency and quickly ruled out the possibility of building and managing its own data center.
