Worknet Expands Data Center Infrastructure to Meet Growing Demands of Business and Technology
Naperville, Illinois –March 12, 2007- Worknet Inc., a provider of managed hosting services, completed its expansion to the power and cooling capacity of its Data Center infrastructure. With more than 90 tons of cooling, an additional transformer from Naperville Power, along with an additional diesel generator, Worknet’s Data Center facility is dedicated to supporting the needs of its growing customer base.
The increased power and cooling capacity will enable Worknet to reliably support the IT infrastructure of its clients and reduce the risk of downtime. One of the biggest challenges faced by data centers, including Worknet’s, is the deployment of smaller and faster servers. While this is great news for conserving rack space, it does present a challenge because these smaller and faster servers require more power and cooling. Nearly doubling its cooling capacity, Worknet will be able to effectively mitigate the heat load generated by these smaller and faster servers.
“A growing number of midsized businesses in Chicago have realized the advantages of outsourcing the hosting of their mission-critical applications and the need to work with a partner who can offer a comprehensive solution for their growing IT requirements,” said John Vaughan, President & CEO, Worknet. “The expansion of our cooling and power capacity reflects our continued efforts to make investments in our state-of-the-art data center infrastructure, which provides the highest level of managed hosting service.”
The additional transformer will provide two separate power feeds from Naperville Power into Worknet’s Data Center facility. Each power feed is routed through separate Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units and backed by diesel generators. In the event the power feeds go down, Worknet now has two diesel generators with 990 gallons of diesel fuel stored on-site. The diesel generators are able to power the facility for up to a week at its current load.
